Focus XT Review

alpha brain review

Focus XT is a nootropic stack created by Serious Nutrition Solutions and advertised as a general cognitive enhancer. If you purchase any nootropics from, you have probably seen their products before. Their website makes many claims about the effectiveness of the stack, and while they are a bit of an exaggeration, Focus XT is a solid nootropic stack.

Our Score: buy nootropics

Focus XT is an effective nootropic stack which contains a number of powerful nootropics in order to improve overall cognition. Though they don’t list the exact dosage of each ingredient, I have used this stack in the past with good results. I strongly recommend including a ‘racetam (Noopept is best with this stack, in my opinion), as they synergize very well with Choline and DMAE.

I have few criticisms about the effectiveness of the stack. Because one dose is 9.8 grams of powder, it can be difficult to consume easily. I would recommend purchasing a capping machine and using it to make your own capsules of Focus XT.

Also, it is a bit expensive. A month’s supply retails for almost $40 on their website. Strangely enough it’s available on Amazon at a much lower price.

Focus XT’s Ingredients

Usually looking at the doses of each ingredients included in a nootropic stack is a good way to assess its effectivess. If a stack contains proven nootropics at high enough doses then it’s a pretty safe bet that the stack will be effective.

Unfortunately SNS does not explicitly list the amount of each ingredient included in a dose of the stack. They just list each ingredient and include the total dose of all that is necessary for one serving. (9800 mg, by the way) Their website claims that their product “is not a little bit of everything, not enough of anything”, but without listing the specific amounts of each ingredient per dose, it is hard to know that for sure.

If I have not previously tried Focus XT and gotten good results from it, I would have trouble recommending this product. However, it did provide good results for me, and many people swear by it. I can’t claim that everyone will experience the benefits I did, and you may want to try contacting them directly if you’d like to know how much of each ingredient is included.

Choline BitartrateCholine is a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine plays a large role in learning and memory. Choline Bitartrate is one of the least bio-available forms of choline, and definately won’t provide much benefit by itself, however it does synergize well with Huperzine A.

Huperzine AHuperzine A is a powerful acetylcholineesterase inhibitor which works to prevent the breakdown of acetylcholine in the brain. Research has shown it to improve learning, memory, and levels of NGF in the brain. It synergizes well with choline because as choline supplements lead to more acetylcholine being produced, Huperzine A prevents it from breaking down.

VinpocetineVinpocetine is a neuroprotective nootropic which increases blood-flow to the brain and improve learning and memory.

L-TyrosineTyrosine is an essential amino acid which is the precursor to vital neurotransmitters such as Dopamine and Norepinephrine. When taken as a supplement it has been shown to improve overall cognitive performance and reduce the harmful effects of stress and fatigue.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine Carnitine is a compound essential for the transport of fatty acids to the mitochondria. It is commonly available as a weight loss supplement, however there is little evidence that it has cognitive enhancing properties. It is a potent antioxidant, however, so long term use will help prevent free radical induced damage to brain cells.

DMAE DMAE is an organic compound similar to choline which can easily cross the blood-brain barrier. DMAE is also a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and so will synergize well with Huperzine A.

Caffeine (200 mg) – It’s interesting that caffeine is the only ingredient in Focus XT which has a dosage listed. That said, if the dosages of the other ingredients are as solid as this dosage of caffeine then the stack will undoubtedly be effective. An average cup of coffee contains about 130 mg, so you get a little less than 2 cups worth here.

Focus XT’s Value

Focus XT is quite expensive, 30 doses worth runs for $40 on their website. Oddly enough it is listed on Amazon for over half that. If purchased on Amazon it is a much better value. Why it is twice as much on SNS’s official site is a mystery to me.

The Verdict

If you’re looking for a nootropic stack to improve your overall cognitive performance than Focus XT is a solid choice. When I used it I would combine it with Noopept. This combination in particular was especially effective.
